Background:

I was born on March 28, 1980. My parents are Ed and Renee Grube. My younger brother is a Director of Christian Education. My dad was the first principal of Concord Lutheran School. My mom just retired from teaching at Zion-Concord. I attended St. Paul Lutheran School in Addison for the preschool-third grade. Then the schools of Zion Lutheran School in Bensenville and St. Paul Lutheran School in Addison became one to form Concord. I then attended Concord from fourth-eighth grade. I graduated in 1994. I then attended Walther Lutheran High School in Melrose Park and graduated in 1998, third in my class. Next, I attended Concordia University Chicago in River Forest, Illinois. I graduated in 2002 with Magna Cum Laude Honors and a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a concentration in geography. I met my husband, Paul Golz, at Concord. We decided to begin dating after talking to each other at Zion’s church picnic in 2006. We got married on June 12, 2009. We had a baby girl on January 22, 2014, but she died after four hours. Her brain had not fully developed. God blessed us with another girl on March 26, 2015. Her name is Olivia. We have a border collie/Australian shepherd mix named Mayday. We live in a pink house in Addison.

I began teaching at Concord in 2002. It is a neat experience to be able to teach at the same school in which I attended and to have been able to teach at the same school as my mother for 15 years. My first position was kindergarten. I have taught all the grades except for first grade, although I did my student teaching in first grade at Trinity Lutheran School in Lombard. At Concord, I have played the organ for chapel; I directed an elective choir for 4th-8th graders: Wings of Praise; I have directed three Christmas musicals and one spring musical; I have coached junior varsity and varsity basketball; I teach piano lessons; I’m in charge of the Beautiful Feet Club; and I direct the Cherub Choir. My church responsibilities are serving on the Board of Parish Education, teaching the toddler Sunday school class, and serving on the altar guild.

Teaching Philosophy:

Each child learns in his/her own way. Although I teach children in a group setting, if children need additional help, I am available to children before, during, and after school to provide instruction in the way he/she learns best. I also provide various activities in my group instruction for children to practice their knowledge. I love having the opportunity to share my faith with my students and teach them about Jesus throughout the day. It is amazing when students make a faith connection to a subject other than in religion class. I wanted to be a teacher since third grade. My parents and both sets of aunts and uncles were all teachers. They, along with the teachers I had in school, have been a great influence in my life. I hope I can be that influence in my students’ lives.
