175th Church Anniversary
We expanded many of our normally scheduled events to celebrate Zion’s 175th anniversary. The events listed below include a hightlight of some of those major events. All current church events can be found on the calendar.
2012 Church Picnic
The annual church picnic was held June 10th, 2012 @ 10:00 AM. We were blessed with great weather as nearly 350 people joined us for the outdoor church service and many more stopped by in the afternoon for the food and festivities. Special thanks to the Reverend Chuck Schlie, who was our guest preacher.
2012 Concord Open
The 11th annual Concord Open was held August 6th, 2012 @ 1:30 PM. The golf outing was a success once again, with nearly 100 people in total joining in on the fun on the course and at the banquet! Great weather and awesome volunteers were able to make the outing a fantastic time. It all happened in Zion’s backyard at White Pines Golf Course in Bensenville.
175th Anniversary Church Service
The service was held September 30th, 2012 @ 3:00 PM. It involved the Pastors of many of the schools and churches that Zion had helped to start. We were delighted to have: The President of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Reverend Matthew Harrison as our guest preacher. The service was followed by a Wine and Cheese Social. We were also delighted to have instrumental and vocal support for our service from the students of Walther Lutheran High School.
175th Anniversary Banquet
Was held on November 4th, 2012. On All Saints Day, our 8 AM and 10:30 AM services included special guest preacher, the Northern Illinois District President, Dan Gilbert. Pastor Gilbert was also available between services for a question and answer forum discussion. We also had Walther Lutheran High School’s choir join us at the late service. The 175th Anniversary banquet was held at White Pines Golf Club and had a great turnout.
